In October 2011 St Mary’s launched the “Friends of Astbury Church”.
The purpose of the Friends scheme is to enable people to have a direct
impact on ensuring that this historic church has a secure future.
Money raised through the Friends scheme goes directly to help
renovation and restoration of the building.
Our historic church is completely independent of government subsidy
and so we rely for income solely on donations and legacies.
Our hope is to increase this by membership donations from Friends.
Many people have lived in and around the parish, attended St Mary’s School,
been married, baptised or confirmed here and will value this connection. It
also offers a link for the many visitors who travel to Astbury from so many
locations and who feel a connection with this extraordinary place of worship,
craftsmanship and lived-through history.
Once you become a member you will receive a regular newsletter about the
church and village and be invited to special Friends of Astbury Church events.
Your donation will be administered under the charitable status of the PCC
enabling it to be gift-aided where appropriate, increasing the income under
current rules.
If you’d like to join the Friends of Astbury Church, pick up a leaflet from the back of church, or click here.
