Our Services

Our Sunday Services:

Astbury St Mary’s has been a place of Christian worship for over 1000 years. We hope that you will feel welcome and that you are able to meet with God through our services.

8.00 am

Book of Common Prayer Communion Service. A well loved traditional spoken service {no music} which has remained unchanged for hundreds of years.

9.00 am – first Sunday of each month

BCP Morning Prayer – said.

11.00 am
On the first Sunday of each month the service is Holy Communion.

On the second Sunday of each month we have a Family Service and this is combined with the school children during term time. The children stay in church for the first part of the service, before going into the vestry for Junior Church. Tiddler Church for the under-twos is in the Lady Chapel, where their carers can still hear and feel part of the service. The first Sunday of each month is all-age worship when the children stay in for the whole service. There are also ‘Sunday Sacks’ available at the back of church which contain toys, puzzles and games for young children to play with in the pews. After the service you are warmly invited to stay for refreshments, which normally include home-made cakes and real coffee.

On the third Sunday of each month the service is Morning Prayer with Holy Communion and on the fourth Sunday of each month the service is Moring Prayer.

6.30 pm

Evensong, with Sung Eucharist on the second Sunday of each month. This is a traditional sung evening service with our robed choir leading worship.

Whenever we have a 5th Sunday in any month all normal services at both Astbury and Smallwood Churches will be suspended and a joint service with Smallwood Church will be arranged – please check with the website for further details.

One the first Sunday of every month there will be a Storytime Service for young children at 6.00 pm followed by hot chocolate for everyone and there will then be a Compline Service at 7.00 pm.
